Out of the Depths: Martha's Vineyard Shipwrecks

October 1, 2011 - August 11, 2012
Countless vessels have been wrecked off the shores of Martha's Vineyard. This exhibition will explore the fascinating and often tragic stories behind these ill-fated voyages through photos, paintings and wreckage that has washed ashore. Visitors will see a door from the famous passenger steamer City of Columbus, which sank off Aquinnah in 1884, and learn what underwater exploration is telling us about the relics that remain on the sea floor.
